The simplest way of finding the loaded version is by checking which home screen you have.

Start
Settings
Home Screen
Silver Key
Read the version of the BTBroadband Anywhere option

If you have anything less than version 2.39 and you are having problems (especially battery) then update. 

Updating

2.43 CAB files - When downloading cab files store them on your micro SD card ready for the next time you need them.

If you are loading via the MSI / Installer you may receive an error message about a previous installer. If you can't uninstall it then you need to find the offending earlier installer. There are 2 previous installer files on the same site as the CAB files. I can't help you any further as I don't use the MSI / activesync method.
